What a music publisher does?

The work of music publisher is to make sure all the royalties for the songs they manage and they deal with the song writers for promoting their songs which has been composed for the musicians who are under with the publishing company. They also do advertising for the song or a movie and they do promotional campaign in behalf of them, issue license for the songs or albums which they represent and collect the licensing fees from the profit earned. From the name itself, we can understand that, they are the ruling publishing companies in the music field. Their company names will be famous and they work only on major and big projects which will be promoted world-wide.

Major affiliated music publishers

These are the independent music publishing companies which work with the major music publishers under some kind of agreement such that they will be handling the major publishing works like licensing the administration. These are also called as the independent record labels but with an exception of working with major companies.

Independent publishers

Typically, the new comers or a group of people who writes and publishes their songs on their own or with few colleagues, comes under this category. These kind of publishing companies will be handling their own administration as they have not built that big such that they will be needing in-house guidance without having any sort of aid from the majors. They also work in a self-funded basis.

Writers-publishers

This kind of work can be seen in common especially in the music publishing industry. These are the people who write songs as well as compose their song such that they will be handling their own publishing works come under this category. They will be doing all administration without anyone’s help.
